This Sunday, February 11th, the people of Portugal will go to the polls to decide whether to pass a referendum that would further liberalize abortion.
The current law allows a woman to have an abortion in instances of rape, birth defects to the unborn baby, or if the mother's life is in danger. The referendum, if passed, would allow a woman to choose to have an abortion within the first ten weeks of her pregnancy.
Many who are proponents of the referendum view a "Yes (Sim)" vote as an indicator that Portugal as a country is becoming more like it's forward thinking EU neighbors. My hope and prayer is that the people of Portugal might realize how "forward thinking" they truly are in protecting the sanctity of life and will be moved to vote "No (Nao)" to this Sunday's referendum.

Lord God, help the people of Portugal understand how precious life is and vote no.
