Live Music

This past Wednesday kicked off one of our first ministry events. Our desire was to create an activity that the Edge students could invite their classmates to attend. Since most of us are not into the Disco scene we thought the next best place would be a cafe!! We found one close to campus and the manager was kind enough to open it up to us. Flyers were made and passed out around campus. The featured artist providing the live music was a new arrival to our group, Bryan Nance (his band toured and opened for the Newsboys).

Around 30 people turned out for the evening's event with about half of them not being from our immediate group. It was exciting to see our Edge students making connections with classmates as they relaxed and drank coffee. One song that was sung in the midst of the evening was "Your Love is Extravagant" and I could not help but pause and thank my Lord for the many blessings He has shown me.

Pray for the beginning friendships started this first week of classes for the Edge students and their classmates. Pray that they may be bold in sharing the extravagant love of their Lord!

Sidenote: Earlier that evening, Heidi and I had been the first to arrive at the cafe to help setup. I got to chatting with two philosophy students who already had made themselves comfortable over a plate of snails (still need to try some...)! One student, Nuno shared his belief that God does not exist in his statement that "God is dead." It was not the statement that surprised me as much as how easily he said it. Pray that the Lord might open Nuno eyes that He is very much alive and present.
